PRIVACY POLICY
LAST UPDATED 21 AUGUST 2026
howcooked.fun is an entertainment quiz. This page explains exactly what happens to your data, in plain terms.
The short version
- There is no database. We do not have accounts, and we do not store your results.
- Your quiz answers never leave your browser, except encoded inside a link you choose to share.
- If you upload a photo, it is processed in your browser and is not saved on our servers.
- We do not sell data, and we do not build profiles of you.
Your quiz answers
Your answers are held in your browser while you play and are scored there. We do not send them to a server or write them down. When you share a result, the answers are encoded into the link itself (for example /r/1t8tV) and the score is recalculated from that link when someone opens it. Anyone with the link can see that result — that is the point of sharing it — but the link is not connected to you.
Your photo
Uploading a photo is optional. The quiz works fully without one. If you do upload one:
- It is cropped, resized and checked for a face inside your browser.
- If AI character generation is enabled, the cropped image is sent to our image generation provider, nanobananaapi.ai, which creates your character. It is held in our server’s memory for at most two minutes so their service can fetch it, and is deleted as soon as generation finishes. It is never written to a disk or a database.
- The generated character is returned as a link to the provider’s servers and shown to you. We do not keep a copy.
- Your photo is never included in a shared result link. Share links show a drawn character.
Please do not upload photos of other people without their permission, and do not upload photos of children.
Storage on your device
We use your browser’s local storage for two small preferences:
- Whether you have seen the “this is not serious” notice, so it is not shown every visit.
- Whether you have muted the sound.
These stay on your device and are not sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Advertising and cookies
We may display advertising on this site, including through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which parts of the quiz people reach. It sets cookies and records anonymised traffic data — pages viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and whether you finished the quiz. IP addresses are anonymised, and we do not send it your answers, your photo, or anything that identifies you personally.
You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google’s opt-out add-on.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Because we do not store personal data, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve or delete on request. If you believe we hold something about you, write to us and we will look into it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site.
